Interior doors with moulding

Moulding is a decorative strip applied to the leaf to create a pattern. It is the most common way to make a door more than a plain rectangle without moving up to the cost of milled or painted finishes.

Twenty-five models carry moulding, across two lines: ETALON, models ET-02 to ET-17, and NOMINAL, models NL-02 to NL-10.

The patterns differ in character. A single vertical line down the centre is the most restrained option and works in almost any interior. Two or three horizontals are quiet and classical. More complex geometry with rectangles and intersections is more expressive, but the room has to carry it.

A simple rule: the fewer other visual accents a room has, the more complex a pattern it can take. In a hallway with bare walls, elaborate moulding looks right; in a room with patterned wallpaper it argues with the walls.

Moulding or milling. Moulding is applied to the leaf; milling is cut into it. Milling lasts longer — it cannot peel off or be knocked loose by furniture — but costs more. Where a door gets knocked about constantly, FREZZATTI is worth a look.

How the lines differ. ETALON has a 40 mm leaf, 17 colours, and offers aluminium edging, a flush frame and sound insulation. NOMINAL has a 34 mm leaf, 12 colours and only the telescopic frame — at a lower price.
